about us

Stone Creek Ranch LLC, a horse boarding facility in Saranac MI, has been operating since 2004. Our primary responsibility is to the horse. It is important to us to consider the horse first, and make sure that their needs are being met consistently so that they can feel safe, comfortable, confident and relaxed. After that our responsibility is to one another. We each have a responsibility to treat one another as fairly as possible. We believe that holding ourselves and our boarders to these standards is how we create a positive restorative environment for our horses and our humans.

Our Farm

Stone Creek Ranch is built on a section of farmland purchased by Dennis and Wanda Mutschler in the 1980s.  The property as a whole is 98 acres including woods, swamp and hay fields. The ranch barns, pastures and arenas account for approximately 20 of those 98 acres. The Mutschlers are still a large part of keeping the ranch going, from making our hay, to mowing and sweeping the pastures and much more. You will usually find Denny in his workshop building or fixing something and Wanda is always around taking care of something or someone.

Our Owner

Michelle Wrubel graduated from Michigan State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. After a lengthy recovery following a TBI in 2012 she has returned to spend the last several years pursuing showing in Rookie Professional classes in the NRHA with the most notable achievement being a reserve championship in the East Central Affiliate Championship in 2016 with Wanda Mutschler’s gelding Whiz’s Painted Gun shown in the picture above. You can look for her and her newest gelding Twisted Legend in local Ranch Riding classes this year.
